Music is one of THE most important parts of the wedding ceremony. It helps the ceremony run smoothly, personalizes your ceremony as well as paints a beautiful picture for you and your guests. After all, everyone looks so beautiful, the flowers are amazing, the candles are lit....why not have beautiful music to complete it all!
You may choose to hire musicians for your ceremony, or ask a close friend or family member. But you have to remember, musicians are like the photographer or the florist.....you need to pay them for their service. They work just as hard and give their time just like the rest. (I say this because I am a musician)
Here is a basic music outline of what you may want for your ceremony. The wonderful part is, YOU get to choose what music you want! If you have NO clue what songs to use, I suggest you purchase a Wedding CD to help you in your decision making. That way, you can hear exactly what you will have at your wedding.
Predlude Music. This music should start at least 30 minutes before the ceremony. It should reflect songs of love and romance. Select songs that you and your future husband/wife like. Remember, this music sets the tone for the ceremony. This is the first thing guests will hear as they arrive.
Seating of the Mothers Need I say more?
Processional for the Bridal Party I chose Canon in D
Processional for the Bride This is YOUR entrance!
Music during ceremony I had a friend sing during the lighting of the Unity Candle, as well as a family member pay flute after the giving away of the bride.
Recessional for All Bridal Party The bride and groom leave first and then the remaining party.
Postlude This music is played while all guests are exiting the ceremony site. Possibly 15 minutes worth.
